Virginia Mason, a historic and dynamic community hospital in the center of beautiful Seattle, Washington, has an opening for a Per Diem Palliative Care Physician in its growing Palliative Care Program.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate and energetic team. The current program is primarily focused on hospital-based consultative Palliative Care with a growing presence in the outpatient setting. The team's vision is to provide comprehensive palliative care services to any patient and family dealing with a serious illness, regardless of where they are in the Virginia Mason organization. We are looking for a Palliative Care physician who matches our current enthusiasm for transforming how Palliative Care is delivered at Virginia Mason.
Patient Care:
- Diagnose and treat various medical conditions.
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans.
- Conduct thorough medical examinations and histories.
Communication:
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Provide clear and concise medical information.
- Foster a collaborative and patient-centered approach to healthcare.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document medical findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Ensure compliance with coding and billing regulations.
Diagnostic Procedures:
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as lab work and imaging.
- Perform procedures as needed
- Collaborate with specialists for further diagnostic evaluation.
Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
- Provide consultative services to other healthcare providers.
Quality Improvement:
- Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
- Review and analyze clinical outcomes for continuous improvement.
- Implement changes to enhance patient care and safety.
Compliance:
- Adhere to ethical and legal standards in medical practice.
- Stay informed about healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
- Participate in quality audits to ensure adherence to standards.
Continuous Learning:
- Stay abreast of medical advancements and best practices.
- Participate in ongoing medical education and training.
- Contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
Patient Assessment and Diagnosis:
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
Treatment Planning and Management:
- Develop and implement patient care plans.
- Prescribe medications and therapies.
- Provide health promotion and disease prevention education.
Collaboration and Consultation:
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals.
- Consult with physicians and specialists as needed.
- Coordinate patient care across various settings.
